Representative Pablo Carro (Uni\u00f3n por la Patria) introduced a new Personal Data Protection Bill of Law<\/a> in the Argentine House of Deputies (the \u201cBill\u201d). The Bill is based on the initiative previously developed by the Agency for Access to Public Information and submitted by the National Executive Branch in 2023 through Message 87\/2023.<\/a><\/p>\n

Among its key updates, the Bill includes a definition of \u2018inferred data\u2019, understood as the information generated about a person through reasoning or deductions, rather than solely through the observation or collection of their personal data.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Bill proposes stricter rules for data processing in the public sector: it establishes differentiated criteria for State-owned companies and entities depending on their function; prohibits the transfer of data to private legal entities, except in limited cases; and promotes the appointment of a Data Protection Officer in each public body.<\/p>\n

The Bill also proposes an increase in the base value of the mobile unit used to calculate fines, raising it from AR$10,000 to AR$100,000.<\/p>\n

Overall, the Bill keeps the core of the earlier draft bill and adds specific changes to strengthen personal data protection.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
