In pursuit of strengthening their strategic partnership, the Presidents of the United States and Argentina announced the framework for a Reciprocal Trade and Investment Agreement.
The agreement outlines commitments on tariffs, imports and market access, intellectual property, standards alignment, and digital trade.<\/p>\n
On the latter, Argentina has committed to recognizing the United States as an adequate jurisdiction for cross-border data transfers, including personal data; to refrain from discriminating against U.S. digital services or products; and to validate electronic signatures issued under U.S. law.<\/p>\n
Although the final text of the agreement has not yet been published, these measures are expected to facilitate e-commerce and the flow of data across both countries, which will require addressing challenges given that Argentina\u2019s personal data protection framework is more closely aligned with the European model than the U.S. approach.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
