New reporting regime for acquirers

On August 28th, 2025, through Communiqué “A” 8310 (the “Communiqué”), the Argentine Central Bank (the “Central Bank”) established that payment service providers performing acquiring activities (“Acquirers”) must comply with a monthly reporting regime related to card transactions, under the Reporting Regime for Payment Service Providers. The new reporting regime will take effect starting with the data corresponding to December 2025, with a due date on January 22nd, 2026.

Key aspects of the Communiqué include:

  1. Frequency and Deadlines: Acquirers must submit the information monthly, with a deadline on the 22nd day of the month following the reported period (or the next business day).
  2. Acquiring Transactions: The following data must be reported, among others:
  • Tax Identification Number (C.U.I.T.) of the sub-acquirer/aggregator (only if they participate in the transaction).
  • Code of the payment instrument used (credit, debit, prepaid, or purchase card).
  • Code of the payment scheme used.
  • Jurisdiction of issuance of the card used.
  • U.I.T. of the card issuer (only if the card was issued in Argentina).
  • Initiation method/access channel (e-commerce, POS, QR, among others).
  • Payment method used (single payment or installments).
  • Code of the interoperable digital wallet provider registered with the Central Bank used (only for payments via QR code scanning).
  • Merchant category code of the merchant receiving the funds (according to the MCC).
  • Total number of transactions.
  • Currency of origin (SWIFT code).
  • Total amount by currency of origin.
  1. Point-of-Sale (POS) Terminal Information: The stock of physical POS terminals (POS, mPOS, and integrated payment systems) must be reported, detailing their status (active or inactive).
  2. Data Standardization: Amounts must be reported in thousands, without decimals, rounded according to the guidelines set by the Central Bank.

The new reporting regime strengthens control standards in the payment system and is part of the Central Bank’s strategy to enhance security and trust in electronic transactions.
