Argentina initiates Sunset Review of antidumping duties on exports of ceramic sanitary fittings from Brazil

On May 26, 2021, the Ministry of Productive Development of Argentina, by means of Resolution No. 228/2021, initiated a sunset review and a change of circumstances investigation of the antidumping duties imposed against exports of ceramic sanitary fittings (toilets, tanks or cisterns, lavatories, columns (pedestals) and bidets) -which are classified under tariff codes 6910.10.00 and 6910.90.00 of the Mercosur’s Common Nomenclature- from Brazil.

The initiation of the sunset review investigation was requested by local producer Ferrum S.A. de Cerámica y Metalurgia.

The dumping margin relating to the exports of the abovementioned products from Brazil to Argentina was estimated at 354.16%. Moreover, the National Foreign Trade Commission preliminarily determined that sufficient evidence exists as to the recurrence of harm to the local industry, which thus merits the initiation of the sunset review.

Until the sunset review procedure concludes, the dumping duties imposed in 2016 through Resolution No. 245 of June 8, 2016 will remain in force.

Companies located in Brazil which export the abovementioned products to Argentina, as well as local companies importing them, can appear before the Ministry of Productive Development and request the questionnaires to participate in this investigation and be notified of the proceedings.
