On 1st January 2026, the 13th Edition of the Nice Classification will come into force.
The most relevant changes are highlighted below:
- Certain optical products such as lenses, contact lenses, eyeglass lenses, sunglasses and related medical accessories are transferred from Class 9 to Class 10.
- Emergency and rescue vehicles, such as life rafts, evacuation chairs, and firefighting boats, are transferred from Class 9 to Class 12.
- Electrothermal clothing is transferred from Class 11 to Class 25.
- Sea kayaks are transferred from Class 28 to Class 12.
- In Class 5, ‘aromatherapy oils’, ‘aromatherapy creams’ and ‘floral waters for medicinal use’ will be added to the list of products for medicinal use.
