The European Commission has successfully concluded the review of 11 adequacy decisions under EU data protection legislation that preceded the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”). The report determines that personal data transferred to Andorra, Argentina, Canada, Faroe Islands, Guernsey, Isle of Man, Israel, Jersey, New Zealand, Switzerland and Uruguay continue to benefit from adequate protection. Consequently, the data can continue to flow freely to these jurisdictions.
It should be noted that the Commission will continue to monitor relevant developments and review adequacy decisions periodically under the GDPR.
