Guidelines and Recommendations for the Use of Artificial Intelligence in the Judiciary of the City of Buenos Aires

Through Presidential Resolution No. 206/2025, the Council of the Judiciary of the City of Buenos Aires – Consejo de la Magistratura de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires established a series of preventive and precautionary measures for the responsible use of artificial intelligence (‘AI’), including generative AI models, within the city’s judicial system.

The new guidelines and recommendations acknowledge AI’s potential to enhance judicial processes and the quality of the service, while emphasizing its role as an ‘assistant’ rather than a replacement for judicial personnel. Human supervision remains mandatory, with the level of involvement depending on AI’s impact on individuals’ rights in decision-making.

In addition to human supervision, the resolution sets specific recommendations for data protection, judicial staff training, and transparency in documenting the use of AI systems in judicial processes.
