Effects of dispositions 1714/2020, 1923/2020 and 2205/2020 issued by the Argentine Migration Office

Based on the health emergency established by Decree 260/2020 and complementary regulations, the National Directorate of Migration, under the Ministry of the Interior, issued Resolutions 1714/2020, 1923/2020, and 2205/2020 to automatically extend the expiration dates of precarious residence certificates, temporary residencies, and temporary residence permits.

The dispositions automatically extend the validity of certificates of precarious residence, transitory residences and temporary residences, whose expiration dates have operated after March 17, 2020 and until June 17, inclusive, for the period of 30 calendar days.

The new regulation, among other issues, also foresees the suspension of administrative deadlines to comply with intimations for the period of time indicated above.

As well, the dispositions established the extension of the validity of the inscriptions in the National Registry of Foreign Applicants -RENURE-, whose expiration dates have operated after April 30, for a period of 30 days.

All shifts managed through the RADEX remote platform will be rescheduled by the Argentine Migration Office once attention to the public is normalized in the National Public Administration.

The country’s borders are open for the sole purpose of repatriating Argentine citizens and foreign citizens residing in Argentina, through the border crossings specifically authorized for this purpose and the flights scheduled by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Airlines are only authorized to sell airline tickets starting from September 1, 2020.

Finally, we remind you that the Disposition No. 1644/2020 issued by The National Migration Authority sets forth the temporary suspension of the following visas: i) temporary and permanent residences; ii) transitory residences, and iii) Online Travel Authorization for foreigners that are nationals and/or come from China, South Korea, Iran, Japan, United States, United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, countries that integrate the Schengen Area and the European Union. This Disposition also means that, in case those foreigners -that are nationals and/or come from those countries or areas listed before-, are required to obtain a visa to enter to Argentina as tourists, they will not be able to even enter to Argentina as tourists. The Disposition does not specify the term during which these visas will be suspended.
