On September 7, 2023, Administrative Decision No. 750/2023 (the “Decision”) was published in the Official Gazette, whereby the Executive Branch -through the Cabinet of Ministers Office- ordered the implementation of the Inter-ministerial roundtable on Artificial Intelligence (the “Roundtable”).
Preceded by the implementation of the Transparency and Personal Data Protection Program in the Use of Artificial Intelligence ordered on August 30, 2023, the creation of the Interministerial Committee occurs within the framework of the state’s approach to Artificial Intelligence, defined in the Decision as “one of the most significant socio-technological changes of the 21st century due to both the potential it holds for transforming production and labor, as well as the profound ethical considerations it raises for its implementation.”
Pursuant to the Decision, the Roundtable aims to “establish a platform to discuss, analyze and examine the impact that Artificial Intelligence may have on the socio-economic reality of Argentina, considering not only the advantages of its incorporation in private activity or in public policies, but also the new risks or adverse consequences for specific individuals or for society as a whole” and will be integrated by the Cabinet of Ministers Office, the Presidency´s Secretariat of Strategic Affairs and the Ministries of Science and Technology; Defense; Economy; Foreign Affairs, International Trade and Religion; Health; Security and Labor, Employment and Social Security.
