Creation of the “Interministerial Roundtable for Research, Development and Production of Vaccines, Treatments, Diagnostics and other Health Technologies”

On November 16, 2021, Joint Resolution 5/2021 – RESFC-2021-5-APN-MDP – of the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Development, Science and Technology and the Ministry of Productive Development was published in the Official Gazette, creating the “Interministerial Roundtable for Research, Development and Production of Vaccines, Treatments, Diagnostics and Other Health Technologies” comprising the Minister of Health, the Minister of Productive Development and the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.

Objective of the Interministerial Roundtable for Research, Development and Production of Vaccines, Treatments, Diagnostics and Other Health Technologies

The objective of the Interministerial Roundtable is to establish the strategic framework for the construction of the national policy for research, development and production of new technologies for the diagnosis, treatment and control of SARS-COV-2, as well as other health technologies, with the purpose of optimizing resources and strengthening the articulation of the ministries with competence in the matter.

To this end, through the creation of the Interministerial Roundtable, a space for direct communication between the Ministries of the State with competence in the matter was established, for the construction of a national policy for the research, development and production of new health technologies.

In this regard, the Interministerial Roundtable, integrated by the Ministry of Productive Development, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation and the Ministry of Health, respectively, will establish public policies that contribute to the design of a national policy aimed at mitigating the effects of COVID-19, encouraging scientific and technological production and increasing the capacities of the productive sector. Besides establishing the strategic guidelines of the national policy for research, development and production of vaccines, treatments, diagnostics and technologies, the Interministerial Board may, when it deems it appropriate, refer to other problems of health relevance. The work plan, its operation and the specific actions of the Interministerial Roundtable will be defined at its first meeting.
