New Regulation on the display of medicine prices

Provision No. 481/2025 issued by the Sub-Secretariat for Consumer Protection and Fair Trade of the Ministry of Economy, published on May 8, 2025, in the Official Gazette, in accordance with Joint Resolution No. 2/2025 dated April 3, established the technical specifications of the updated price list of prescription-only medicines. Pharmacies and mutual pharmacies are required to display the price list via a QR code.

The Price List must include the following information:

  • Medications using their Global Trade Item Number (GTIN).
  • Consumer-accessible presentations (excluding hospital-use presentations).
  • Display only medicines with current prices and which are dispensing at the pharmacy.

The order in which the medicines appear on the Price List must be based on the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API), presentation, and price (in ascending order), to enable better comparison between products with similar characteristics.

Any breach of this Provision shall be subject to penalties in accordance with Decree No. 274/2019 and/or Law No. 24,240, as amended.

This measure shall enter into force on the day following its publication in the Official Gazette.
