The unsubscribe button reaches streaming services

On May 25, 2021, Resolution No. 357/2021 was published in the Official Gazette, issued by the National Directorate of Consumer Defense, which is part of the National Secretary of Domestic Trade. Such resolution broadens the scope of the “unsubscribe button” duty to include providers of multimedia content streaming services, pre-savings plans, insurance companies and time-sharing companies. Such duty requires companies to clearly and visibly display the option to unsubscribe from the service at the moment consumers wish to do so, so that they can cancel the service with a single click. Providers must offer the “unsubscribe button” within sixty (60) calendar days from May 25.
