On May 30, 2023, the Ministry of Economy of Argentina by means of Resolution No. 923/2023, initiated an investigation for alleged dumping against exports to Argentina of zipper and band fasteners, with metal teeth, nylon or polyester monofilament, and injected plastic from China, Brazil, India, Indonesia and Peru, products which are classified under the Mercosur’s Common Nomenclature tariff positions 9607.11.00, 9607.19.00, and 9607.20.00.
The initiation of the antidumping investigation was requested by local producers LYN S.A.C. e I. and Cierres Depe S.A.
The alleged dumping margin for the opening of the investigation was estimated to be 74.16% for China; 185.39% for Brazil; 314.29% for India; 243.87% for Indonesia; and 204.17% for Peru. Moreover, the National Foreign Trade Commission preliminarily determined that there is sufficient evidence as to the harm caused to the local industry by imports from China, Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Peru.
Companies located in China, Brazil, India, Indonesia, and Peru that export the abovementioned products to Argentina, as well as local companies importing them, can appear before the Ministry of Economy and request the questionnaires to participate in this investigation.
